Hiker Friendly Hanover

Hanging around Hanover waiting for a package, I met all kinds of locals and hikers.

Glad to have GoPro in full working order. It’s about time… Lugging shit across the country that you’re not using is annoying.

This guys name is Walking Spear. He’s not only a “Triple Crowner” but he’s hiked the North Country Trail (NCT), the American Discovery Trail (ADT) as well as summited Mt. Denali (McKinley). The Triple Crown consists of the 3 longest trails in the country, the Appalachian Trail (AT), the Pacific Crest Trail (PCT), and the Continental Divide Trail (CDT). The five trails combined equate to more than 15,000 miles. Walking Spear is perhaps the truest transient hiker I’ve met out here. He’s made a life out of this existence. Well that and the marijuana laws in Vermont and Colorado.

The Dartmouth stadium, viewable from the “stealth” camping sites on the edge of town.

I first made my way to the recreation center. They offer hikers showers and laundry for $5.

Then a mile further down into town where I met up with other hikers and had a half pound burger at Molly’s with $3 margaritas.

    1. It worked. The tumbling with stuff broke up the clumps and distributed it fairly well. I still had to hold it up to light to see inside and shake it more even. Chasing it around the baffles sucks, but worth it. My quilt is a 20 degrees Enlightened Equipment down quilt. I talked a little bit about it in my earlier gear video I think.
